Great book

I loved this book!! As a college counselor, I just ran an Essay Workshop with my rising Seniors and we took excerpts and tips and brainstormed together using this book as our template. They loved it. Having worked with students on the college process for over 20 years, I too believe the essay is a great way to differentiate yourself. This book shows students how to do that and gives great examples along the way.

Stellar help for college-bound kids and their parents

Gabrielle Glancy lays out a step-by-step approach that truly unlocks a student's voice and empowers them to write a compelling and vivid college essay. Written clearly and understandably, this is a book you can hand your junior or senior and then just move out of the way. (Though I'd recommend reading it too--it's both humorous and informative.) My daughter has used this book and says, "Writing my essays has been so much less painful. Gabrielle's method took the stress out of what should be the creative and worthwhile part of college applications."

A must have book for students and counselors!

Simply, I think it is a must have… its almost like a self-help guide book. Personally, I read it and related to all of it. I made little notes where it hit home to me. It’s very hands-on. My favorite part of the book is her use of examples and tips. Gabrielle Glancy helps students connect to themselves and think about the how, what, where and why? As well as walking students through the process and product.
It’s almost like buying an exercise DVD online.... You want results and you want to learn how to do the exercises properly. You did that in your book for students embarking on writing a college essay...
